AKESO Medical Holding is working intensively on further improving the services of the Day Care Centre, which provides patients with top-quality care in the field of day care medicine thanks to modern diagnostic methods and surgery.
Over five thousand arthroscopic operations
The main domain of the Centre is clearly the arthroscopy department under the leadership of MUDr. Zdenek Kopečný, where last year the doctors performed over 5 thousand procedures and this number continues to grow. "This is mainly thanks to the stable staff and the smooth running of all programmes and, last but not least, the great interest in overnight care in our hospital. As a result, the waiting time for a procedure has fallen below four weeks. This is well below the national average, which according to the Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic is about nine weeks," says the manager of the Beroun Hospital's Day Care Centre , Mgr. Roman Švestka, MBA. There is a great emphasis on efficiency in ordering patients, and doctors are able to refer patients even within one week.
Laparoscopic procedures and plastic surgery
Last spring, the Day Care Centre was expanded to include classical surgery in the form of laparoscopic procedures. "Surgeries are performed by surgeons from our sister hospital in Hořovice. The Hořovice surgeons mainly deal with umbilical and inguinal hernia and scar hernia procedures, as well as varicose veins and gall bladders," says Roman Švestka, adding: "The gallbladder surgeries in the Beroun operating theatres are mainly performed by our external doctor, Dr. Tomáš Šebek, who is known for his repeated participation in Doctors Without Borders missions." Another interesting novelty is the expansion of the Centre to include plastic surgery services. The internationally renowned plastic surgeon Miroslav Krejča, M.D., Ph. Patients can take advantage of a wide range of procedures, especially in the areas of the face, chest, abdomen or limbs.
Construction of new operating theatres
As far as the total number of surgeries in the same-day care, which last year reached 5,300, the ongoing statistics already indicate that this year's numbers will touch the 6,000 mark. "We are planning to open our sixth operating theatre in November, which will serve a predominantly new team of orthopaedic surgeons and surgeons. Now we are already working on the completion of another operating theatre, which will expand our surgical, gynaecology, ENT and proctology services," concludes Roman Švestka.
