Department of Medical Nutrition and Catering

The object of the OLVS is to provide catering services to hospital patients, employees, contractors, external workers, students, foreign boarders and employees of companies working on building repairs or maintenance of the hospital. The aim and responsibility of this department is to provide adequate food to patients as part of their treatment. To serve the food in an aesthetic manner, observing all hygiene standards and thus achieving the satisfaction of the patients and other diners.

Therapeutic nutrition - is the nutrition of a person in illness and convalescence. It is an integral part of curative and preventive care and significantly influences the healing process.

Nutritional screening - is used for basic assessment of the nutritional status of patients. It is carried out by non-medical health professionals within the scope of their professional competence. Rehabilitation hospitals are among the healthcare facilities that actively look for malnutrition in all hospitalised patients and minimise the risk of malnutrition through various interventions. The aim is to reduce or eliminate malnutrition and its consequences.

Nutritional therapists - are health professionals trained in nutrition in health care settings. They formulate diets for all types of diets encountered in the hospital, provide dietary norming, and provide consultation for inpatients and outpatients.

They assess the daily dietary intake of malnourished patients, recommend food supplements (sipping, protein supplements, etc.), and educate the patient and family about necessary and appropriate nutrition in collaboration with the attending physician.

Nutrition team - the responsibility of the nutrition team is to monitor the nutrition of hospitalized patients, to address the comments of patients and staff on the food served. The team members have the right to consult medical records, make records, conduct internal audits related to nutrition, evaluate the status of nutritional care and propose recommendations to the attending physicians for the prevention of malnutrition.
