Department of Aftercare

The inpatient ward for aftercare has a well-equipped environment, one to four-bedded rooms with modern reclining beds and TV. It provides aftercare and long-term nursing, rehabilitation and resocialization care to adults, especially geriatric patients, at risk of progressive deconditioning who no longer require the care of inpatient acute medicine wards. It also provides geriatric consults for inpatient wards and physicians. Patients are usually transferred to the ward directly from acute beds, but this is not the only option - the family, physician, one of the social services, etc. may request the placement of a patient. The advantage of this ward is the direct - material and personnel - connection to the Department of Internal Medicine and the Rehabilitation Centre of the hospital, as well as the possibility of a wide range of specialist diagnostic examinations. Within the framework of health care, the aftercare department also provides basic physical therapy, therapeutic physical education, basic occupational therapy including training of compensatory and prosthetic aids. For aphasia, communication training and speech re-education. The nature of all care depends on the degree of impairment of mental functions, the degree of deconditioning and the individual need for special nursing care.
