Why Beroun?
According to his own words, Michal Horáček chose MUDr. Zdeněk Kopecký, a prominent personality of Czech orthopaedics and a Beroun physician, for this demanding procedure . "Here you really don't feel like a piece in a factory, but like a person who matters. The staff is extremely kind and efficient, which I appreciate very much, as well as the pleasant environment. Dr. Kopecny opted for a surgical method that, while more complex and challenging for the surgeon, is more beneficial for the patient. It will bring you back to normal life faster," Michal Horáček praises the atmosphere and approach in Beroun.
Rehabilitation as a path to movement
After the successful surgery, Michal Horáček continues with intensive rehabilitation. His regeneration is under the responsibility of physiotherapist Mgr. Lada Kvapilová, whose work the patient cannot praise. "Lada is excellent, an absolute professional and I can feel how her care is benefiting my body tremendously," says Horáček.
Don't fix a bad movement
In rehabilitation after TEP, physiotherapists focus primarily on range of motion and strengthening the muscles of the lower leg and pelvis. Prevention of thrombosis is also important; the patient must not just lie down, circulation must be encouraged. "The key is then training the correct walking stereotype. Patients tend to relieve themselves after surgery and develop pathological habits, we try to prevent this from the start," explains Lada Kvapilová.
Words of the next songs
Michal Horáček remains active even during his convalescence. He is currently completing a unique project - a collection of poems entitled Earthly Dust and God's Breath, subtitled Words of the Next Songs, inspired by biblical stories. Although the title refers to the Bible, it is a civil anthropologist's view of the stories of contemporary 21st century man.
"In conjunction with this, a unique event will be created. We are preparing the musical form of these poems, which will be performed in the autumn at the State Opera in Prague, accompanied by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. Among the guests will be names such as Vojtěch Dyk, Michael Kocáb, Iva Bittová and Robert Křesťan. It will be spectacular, everyone is cordially invited, pre-sale tickets are already on sale," concludes the lyricist.
We wish Mr. Horáček a speedy recovery and a speedy return to full fitness!
