This year's conference was dedicated to neurophysiological concepts and their application in vertebrogenic disorders. As every year, several distinguished Czech guests accepted the invitation from the head of the Jan Calta Rehabilitation Centre in Beroun and the main organizer of the conference , Ondřej Horáček, MD, PhD. The conference was attended by more than 200 participants, who came from various departments practically all over the Czech Republic, among them a number of chiefs of various rehabilitation departments andIng. Sotirios Zavalianis, the owner of the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun, the director of the Hospital Hořovice MUDr. Michal Průša and Ing. Pavel Pivrnec, Director of the Multiscan Pardubice Radiodiagnostic Centre.
The introductory lecture was given by Prof. Pavel Kolář, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Rehabilitation, 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague, on the connection between vertebrogenic problems and postural functions. Among other things, he pointed out that some even slightly abnormal movement stereotype, if performed only for a short time, does not cause problems or pain in the locomotor system. However, if, for example, a slightly abnormal movement stereotype is performed for a long period of time, for months or years, it can lead to permanent damage to a certain area of the locomotor system (e.g. prolapse of an intervertebral disc) and the development of chronic pain, which is difficult to control with therapy.
Within three consecutive blocks, methods that can be used in the treatment of vertebrogenic disorders were included, such as McKenzie diagnostic procedures, Coordination - Stress Kinesiotherapy, Acral Coactivation Therapy and others. "The conference presented interesting methods and techniques used in the treatment of patients with vertebrogenic disorders. It cannot be said that one therapeutic method is definitely the right one. Each method has its place and its patient," summarized the lectures discussed by the head of the Rehabilitation Centre of the Beroun Hospital, Ondřej Horáček, MD.
The conference is held every year, its focus is very specific and popular among experts.
