The presentation of the AKESO holding took place on 4 December at the Kaiserstein Palace in Prague.
- Arrangement of companies from the Sotirios Zavalianis Group into the AKESO holding structure
was completed on 1 December 2018.
- The consolidated annual turnover of the group amounts to nearly 3 billion crowns.
- The new brand "AKESO Holding" in the shape of a spiral is inspired by a Greek temple and is intended to embody the Group's philosophy of health, humanity and friendliness.
The organisation of activities into a holding structure is intended to simplify the Group's management and strengthen its role in negotiations with regulatory, insurance and supplier partners. The new brand is also intended to better and more clearly present the Group not only to patients, but also to current and future employees and the general public.
The Group's core business remains the healthcare sector, with the following key facilities: the Oncology and Radiology Centre Multiscan Pardubice, the Hospital Hořovice and the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun.
"I dare to say that our facilities have become an example that private business belongs to the healthcare sector and can provide top quality medicine in the general health insurance system, while being profitable and investing. Moreover, all investments are covered by our own resources and have amounted to almost 2 billion crowns during the period of our operation," says Sotirios Zavalianis, owner of the group. "Our goal is to continue to improve our services so that we can be an example not only in the Czech Republic but throughout Europe," he adds.
AKESO Holding in figures (2017 figures):
- 3 billion turnover
- 1,700 employees
- 100,000 unique insureds
- 35 000 hospitalised
- 1 800 children born
- 1 000 total endoprostheses
- 4 000 arthroscopic procedures
- 1 000 cancer patients
- 750 000 outpatient visits
The Group will now focus on further improving patient and staff care, with the aim of recruiting new doctors and nurses to support the operation of the planned new expanded sites at its facilities.
Construction work has also begun on the planned Mental Rehabilitation Centre in Beroun. In the future, a unique facility should be built here, which will focus on the mental health of patients and which is unparalleled in the Czech Republic in terms of the scope and breadth of its planned care.
Regarding the further development of the Group, Sotirios Zavalianis says: "We are trying to provide people with a space to realise their dreams. We have succeeded in doing this in the case of the Horovice neonatology and paediatrics, the Beroun rehabilitation centre and other nowadays top-notch centres. It is still true that the patient comes first and we provide the best care we can."
The AKESO brand
The new AKESO holding brand in the shape of a spiral was created by designer Zdeněk Hejda in cooperation with the Hero & Outlaw agency. The simple shape is based on the volute of the head of the Ionic temple column, the clasped hands and the letter 'a'. "As a temple, we can perceive the hospital and the human body. In the same way, the spiral is found in the clasped hands, which are a symbol of care. When turned, the shape also resembles the letter 'a'," says Ivo Půr, managing director of Hero & Outlaw. "The inspiration and colouring itself then reflects Greek culture, i.e. the nationality and personality of Sotirios Zavalianis," he adds.
