The guarantor and the "soul" of the second sculpture symposium is the artist Jiří Fürst, himself the author of several original sculptures. "When I saw the renovated park of the Beroun hospital a few years ago, I said yes, this is a good place for our generations to leave a legacy. All this space needs is a good dendrologist, a landscape architect, fresh water and two to three dozen good sculptures. I convinced the owner of the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis to organize a sculpture symposium. Nine sculptors participated last year. We partially filled the park and placed two sculptures between the pavilions of the hospital. This connected the two spaces in a pleasant way," explains Jiří Fürst, who came up with the idea for the sculpture symposium.
As for the concept of this year's symposium, its sponsor says that he conceived it in such a way that the two outdoor spaces were equally complemented by the sculptures. "Between the horizontally articulated facades of the buildings, I commissioned three long blocks of Goriška sandstone to create vertical sculptures. In addition, I had two pieces of Slivenec marble quarried from a nearby quarry. It belongs to this location and brings a new quality to the work. In addition, two sculptors added a jigsaw of unworked natural sandstone blocks. I think that the variety of works and the quality of the artists will guarantee the success of the second edition of the international symposium," says Jiří Fürst.
This year's sculpture symposium was attended by academic sculptors Robert Buček, Veronika Durová, Petr Fidrich, Kurt Gebauer, Žandy Gebauer, Jean-Paul Chablais, David Janouch, Josefina Jonášová, Juraj Plieštík and Marie Šeborová.
