"The Arthroscopy Centre of the Beroun Hospital was opened in the autumn of 2008 and has built a reputation as the best arthroscopy centre in the Czech Republic. Thanks to our team of experienced doctors, modern operating theatres, high quality equipment and perfect facilities for patients and medical staff, we have become one of the most sought-after centres in the Czech Republic. Last year, we even celebrated the 40,000th patient operated in our centre," says Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AKESO Holding, to which the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital belongs.
"Our reputation as a modern facility spread very quickly and our capacity became insufficient. So the expansion of the Arthroscopy Centre was offered. On average, we perform 3,700 surgeries per year at the centre and this number will now increase even further. Until now, we have been operating on 20 to 30 patients a day, who have been waiting for an average of 3 to 5 weeks from the time of indication," says As. MUDr. Zdeněk Kopečný, head doctor of the Arthroscopy Centre. "Thanks to the new theatres, we are already operating on a quarter more patients," he adds.
The Arthroscopy Centre has a day care unit
"Our day care department serves the needs of the Arthroscopy Centre. Here we care for patients before and after surgery. The bed capacity has now expanded to 33 beds located in 16 rooms and 1 suite. All the rooms are equipped with modern reclining beds, sanitary facilities, TV and free internet access," said Renata Seidlová, the station nurse, describing what patients can expect in the Day Care Unit. From the day care ward, patients are discharged within 24 hours for home treatment or transferred for rehabilitation.
