On Monday, April 4, a grand opening of the NEMO Kindergarten for children of the Beroun hospital employees took place on the premises of the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun. The ribbon cutting was also attended by representatives of the City of Beroun, headed by Mayor Sonia Chalupova, MEP Tomáš Zdechovský and MEP Jan Skopeček.

The new kindergarten building is located directly below the hospital and impresses at first sight with its oval shape. It offers children two large playrooms and a garden with lots of play and didactic elements. The capacity of the facility is 48 children in two classes, in which they are divided according to age. The operation is adapted to the working hours of the staff and to the shift patterns of the hospital. If necessary, childcare is provided beyond normal working hours.

"We want to create an environment for the children of the employees of the Beroun hospital in which they will be happy," said Blanka Nedorostová, head of the NEMO kindergarten. "We regularly prepare many interesting events for them, such as a visit to the theatre or the salt cave. We also spend a lot of time outdoors with them and go on nature trips. We also organise exercises with a physiotherapist and we solve the diet with a nutritional therapist," she added.

The NEMO kindergarten at the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital is the second facility for children run by AKESO Holding for its employees. The same benefit is also available to employees of the Hořovice Hospital, where the nursery has been operating since 2017. In this children's group, they also work according to the Education and Care Plan with the theme "The magical world around us" and prepare various games and activities for children based on experiential learning. The two preschools cooperate and complement each other in preparing development programmes.

"The satisfaction of our employees is our first priority," said Sotirios Zavalianis, owner of AKESO Holding, which owns the Beroun hospital. "And we are proud that we are able to provide them with excellent working conditions and offer them a wide range of benefits. Whether it is care for their children, premium quality housing or access to the best quality healthcare," he added.

The Beroun hospital, opened in 1929, has undergone a major transformation since its privatisation in 2007. Its restructuring, revitalisation and investments of several hundred million crowns have brought its patients and employees a state-of-the-art environment combined with the most important thing - quality and professional care with a human and helpful approach.

"Just as the quality of patient care is important to us, the care of our own employees is equally important. That is why we are constantly striving to prepare such a background for them so that they would like to work in our facilities and help us change the future of the Czech healthcare system and improve the standard of living not only in the regions where we have our healthcare facilities," added Sotirios Zavalianis.

AKESO Holding is currently building several new projects. It has not been stopped by the coronavirus pandemic, during which a new Diagnostic Centre of the Hořovice Hospital in Prague was opened, focusing its services mainly on the care of mothers and children. A new Mental Rehabilitation Centre is being built on the premises of the Beroun hospital. In Hořovice, a new pavilion is under construction, which will provide standard medical care in normal times with the possibility of rapid conversion into an infectious disease unit for the needs of the Central Bohemia Region and Prague.
