We develop most of the computer systems ourselves and we talked to Petr Šmíd, our IT development manager, about what the hospital will look like in the future. In this issue's main interview, he introduces the use of modern technology in treatment and in the operation of our facilities. You'll also read about our new data centre and the importance of data security.
A big topic in this issue is the mental health of Czech society. The ongoing pandemic is proving to have a significant impact on our health. Depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, but also suicidal thoughts or confusion, which can then precipitate some neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. So we are not just dealing with a viral pandemic, but, in the long term, a pandemic of mental illness. People with mental health problems are increasing rapidly. One in three Czechs today struggles with mental health problems, but in the Czech Republic, the subject is still taboo. That is why the project of the Mental Rehabilitation Centre, which is now being implemented in Beroun, was created. We believe that we will build the most modern psychiatric facility in Europe, which will help us to destigmatise psychiatric care. You can read about what the new centre will look like in the pages of our magazine.
In the new issue, you will also learn about the state-of-the-art equipment available at the Multiscan Oncology and Radiology Centre and the construction of a new generation hospital in Hořovice.
The charismatic actor Tomáš Hanák talks about his experiences with care at the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun. Christmas cheer will surely come from an interview with the head of oncology Martin Šmakal, who talks about his passion for collecting nativity scenes.
We wish you pleasant reading and, if possible, peaceful days in the last month of this year.
