Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun since its privatization in 2007, when it was purchased by Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis, has been undergoing continuous modernization. Now, the third floor of Pavilion C, which serves as a background for the doctors and administrative staff of each department, has been transformed. The main impetus for the renovation was the already necessary replacement of the roofing.
The architects therefore combined this with a complete modernisation of the interior and its extension to include the previously unused attic spaces in both wings of the building. The work took place from April 2023 to May this year, and now only the installation of an external lift is being completed.
"As medical care grows, so do the demands on providing adequate facilities for staff. That is why we have built new offices, a large meeting room and a kitchenette in the eastern part of the building. The original meeting room in the western part was moved to the wing of the building to create additional medical rooms and space for moving the original kitchenette to a more suitable location," says Michal Gajdušek, the construction manager from Construction Team, which is part of the AKESO holding together with the hospital and other healthcare facilities.
In the first phase of the reconstruction, during which work was carried out on the new roof, the craftsmen also prepared the layout of the attic space for the newly built-in building. "In several places we had to replace the old beams with new ones and, together with the roofing, we completely replaced the roofing membrane and insulation. The individual rooms received new roof windows with sun blinds," added construction manager Stanislav Pýcha, who was in charge of this part of the construction work. The craftsmen also removed several chimneys, which were dismantled and blinded at the level of the attic floor. "The chimneys were no longer used from a technological point of view and by removing them we gained a lot of new space for the attic construction," added Stanislav Pýcha.
The second phase focused on the interior, when the electrical wiring, data lines and fire protection sensors were completely replaced. In addition, to ensure a comfortable working environment even in the hot months, technicians installed air conditioning units in all rooms. New ceiling lighting replaced the original fluorescent lights and the corridors and sanitary facilities received tasteful large-format tiles. "The tiles are of Spanish manufacture known as Statuario. For the equipment of the bathrooms, toilets and showers we used the material left over after the completion of the Mental Rehabilitation Centre," said Michal Gajdušek.
After the successful reconstruction, the premises of Hall C now provide employees with modern and functional facilities that meet all the requirements for a comfortable and pleasant working environment.
