In connection with the completion of the reconstruction of Building E of the Beroun Hospital and the extension of the spectrum of medical rehabilitation care within the inpatient aftercare, the existing Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Medicine has been changed to the Rehabilitation Centre of the Hospital. The medical director is MUDr. Jan Calta, the head of early medical rehabilitation is MUDr. Ondřej Horáček, Ph.D. , the head of the department of medical rehabilitation care was appointed MUDr. Milena Kolářová. This centre provides all forms of medical rehabilitation, both inpatient and outpatient. It also provides prosthetic and orthotic care.

Rehabilitation and physical medicine is nowadays one of the strongly growing fields and is gaining more and more applications. However, it has long been known that there is a shortage of beds for this care not only in the Central Bohemia region. The capacity of the Beroun hospital - 88 beds for early medical rehabilitation and 26 beds for follow-up rehabilitation care - will undoubtedly improve this situation. At the same time, it turns out that the local team of experts, consisting of doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, clinical psychologists, social workers, nurses and other staff, has already gained such a reputation that patients from virtually all over the country come to the Rehabilitation Centre of the Beroun Hospital.

All those who are at least a little interested in the Beroun hospital know that, in addition to other major reconstructions, a large complex for rehabilitation care began to be built here at the end of 2009.Within a year, the first newly reconstructed building for rehabilitation in building D was opened, and at the end of this summer, the reconstruction of building E, where the intern used to be until 2009, was completely completed. The two buildings, which also house outpatient care facilities on the ground floor, are connected. With the completion of the renovation of Building E, the extension was then started, which will, when completed, house the facilities of the Rehabilitation Centre - a complete hydrotherapy facility including swimming pools, gymnasium, modern changing rooms for staff and a canteen including refreshments for both patients and their visitors. This extension is due for completion in late 2013. At the same time, the hospital continues to make definitive improvements to the interior of the park. A circular path with resting areas in the shade of mature trees and two gazebos for pleasant seating have been built. There will also be an area for practicing everyday movement activities - different types of surfaces, overcoming obstacles and an area for agility training for the patients of the Rehabilitation Centre.
