We are talking about Mrs. Emilia Dejdarová, whom nobody in our hospital calls anything but Emilka. Although she gave us an extensive interview for the magazine, we still asked her a few interesting questions.
Is there anything significant that has changed in the nurse's work over the years, and what remains the same?
Today's nurse has to fill out more medical documentation, which takes up half of her work time. However, it is still true in this profession that first and foremost one needs to have patience when working with a patient.
If you had a message for younger colleagues, perhaps nursing students, what would it be?
The message to the female students from the "health schools" is simple and straightforward: "Don't go to nursing school just to get a high school diploma, but prepare yourself for the fact that being a nurse is a nice job, but it is also a demanding one."
Are you looking forward to retirement? How do you envision life without the hospital?
I think I'll miss my job. I'll use my free time to walk our dog and watch the sunset. Health and finances permitting, I would like to travel, see Paris, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Europe again. I have a daughter and granddaughter in England and plan to visit them. I like to read books, so I will definitely read a lot. I plan to socialize more with friends, go to the theatre, shows, do crossword puzzles, etc. Just enjoying life and most importantly being cool and "laughing through life"!
