Students on internships, traineeships or temporary jobs got to know in detail the operation of the medical facility, got involved in its functioning, and became a significant help to ensure the smooth running of the workplaces. In total, more than 130 students were involved in the healthcare operations.
Michaela Jánská, a 2nd year student of the Faculty of Health Studies at the University of Pardubice, shared with us what it is like to try out the work of a nurse in oncology.
Why did you decide to do your professional practice in oncology?
I wanted to work in oncology or at least to do my internship there from the first moment I decided to become a nurse. During a field trip to Multiscan, I was clear that my steps would lead here. Thanks to the field trip, I had an idea of what my days at the Cancer Center would be like and I had no fears about it, so I decided to fulfill my entire summer internship here.
What was your normal daily routine?
Most of the time I was in premeds with another student and a nurse. When there was time, we were able to try working with i.v. ports, drawing blood or administering s.c. and i.m. injections in the collection room. Towards the end of the placement I was in the inpatient room, which is used for the administration of systemic treatments, this is where I liked the most.
After your studies you want to work in our cancer center, on this basis you were granted in the application for the scholarship program. What convinced you to connect your first professional steps with Multiscan?
It was the internship I spent at Multiscan that made me decide, as I was able to see the daily work of a nurse and could easily imagine what my working day would be like one day. The modern working environment and the friendly team was another factor that made me decide to apply for the scholarship programme. I recommend the internship at Multiscan to all students - it is a friendly team and diverse work.
