On 1 July 2022, the Multiscan Oncology and Radiology Centre, which belongs together with the Hořovice Hospital, the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun and the Diagnostic Centre of the Hořovice Hospital in Prague to the AKESO healthcare holding, celebrated its 20th anniversary. For the owner of the holding Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis, Multiscan was the first major facility that he used to start his activity in the field of healthcare. The Oncology and Radiology Centre has long been providing care in the field of clinical oncology, radiotherapy and radiodiagnostics, not only to patients from the Pardubice Region.

Multiscan began operating in Pardubice Hospital in 2002, when it initially invested mainly in instrumentation and the development of the diagnostic part. Since the beginning of 2003, in connection with the purchase and operation of a linear accelerator, it has taken over the outpatient care of patients in the Pardubice Region in the field of radiotherapy. In accordance with the concept of oncological care in the region, in 2005, an outpatient clinic for clinical oncology was established in Svitavy and a year later in Ústí nad Orlicí and Chrudim. On the initiative and with the financing of Multiscan, a modern inpatient section was also built at Pardubice Hospital and in mid-2009, in an effort to continuously improve the quality of care provided, the Department of Central Preparation of Cytostatics of the subsidiary company Multiscan Pharma s.r.o. started its operation.

Together with Pardubice Hospital, which provides the inpatient part of oncology, Multiscan forms the Comprehensive Oncology Centre of the Pardubice Region. This status of highly specialized oncological care for adults is granted by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and Multiscan has been proud of it for 17 years. Since its establishment, hundreds of millions of crowns have been invested in the development and operation of the Multiscan Centre. For example, there are now two state-of-the-art linear accelerators for radiotherapy, two magnetic resonance machines and other modern equipment. At the same time, to increase the comfort of patients and employees, a completely new clinical oncology building was constructed at the end of 2019 on the premises of Pardubice Hospital.

"Thanks to the construction of the Multiscan outpatient facility, which took over the care of oncology patients in the Pardubice Region, efficient management and rapidly growing profits from this centre, I was able to focus on other projects and thus spend on the renovation and reconstruction of hospitals in Hořovice and Beroun. I owe Multiscan for the start of my career in the healthcare sector, which we are trying to push to a higher level," says the owner of AKESO Holding Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis.

The healthcare services provided by AKESO Holding are not only of a high standard within the Multiscan Oncology and Radiology Centre. In addition to the well-functioning project of transporting patients from the outpatient departments for radiotherapy to Pardubice by own vehicles, for example, the reconstruction of the premises in the clinical oncology outpatient clinic and inpatient clinic in Ústí nad Orlicí is currently underway. However, there are many more ongoing projects across the holding's healthcare facilities.

"For example, we are developing a digital patient application, building data centres and successfully continuing the construction of the Mental Rehabilitation Centre in Beroun. Patients from Hořovice and the surrounding area will see the expansion of the hospital, we want to focus on building another clinic in Prague and we are definitely not stopping there," Zavalianis adds.
