How to solve the critical capacity shortage in physiotherapy? The answer lies in the synergy of technology and competency change. The Second Opinion podcast of the Medical Tribune featured Mgr. Jakub Pětioký, DiS., MBA, Deputy director for rehabilitation of AKESO Holding and President of the Czech Association of Robotics, Telemedicine and Cybernetics.

His view on the transformation of the industry is clear:

  • Technology as staff protection: robotics is not meant to replace the therapist, but to free up his hands and save his physical strength for analytical work.
  • Availability of care ( Telerehabilitation): We cannot focus on a fraction of patients in outpatient clinics. We must address the needs of the 90% of people "at the door" for whom early intervention is crucial.
  • Modernizing teams: the way is through delegating responsibilities and introducing new roles such as the assistant therapist. The aim is not to take work away from physicians, but to free their hands from the administration and routine that other members of the team can handle.

Effective healthcare in the 21st century cannot do without the courage to implement innovations in daily practice.
