On 26 April, the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic granted the company Jessenia a.s., which owns the Beroun Hospital, accreditation for specialisation training in internal medicine. In essence, this is a great appreciation of the quality work of the hospital's internal medicine department, whose head is doc. What were his first feelings when he learned about the accreditation?

"First of all, I must say that I consider this award as a result of the work of the entire team of doctors in our department. The further expansion of our previously started cooperation with leading clinical departments in Prague, both scientific and research and faculty, certainly played a role. However, we are all aware that the award of accreditation also means a commitment for us in the future - not only to maintain quality, but also to strive to improve it, including patient care at the level of nursing care. Yes, accreditation refers to medical activity, but it goes without saying that without quality medical staff, with a professional and human approach to the patient, it is impossible".

The granting of accreditation means for the internal department of Beroun Hospital, in addition to a certain prestige and inclusion among the best, which is undoubtedly a good signal for patients, above all that it can continue to expand medical education. So far, fresh graduates of medical faculties before the basic tribe have been able to practice here. Now that, thanks to accreditation, the centre has been classified as a type II centre, even those who have already completed the basic strain, or two-year compulsory internship, can train here in the entire field of internal medicine.

Doc. Sochor adds: "A doctor who wants to continue his education and specialisation after the two years and the examination test, and who wants to complete his postgraduate education with the so-called attestation examination - necessary to be an independent practitioner - will now be able to complete his training programme with us. For me and for my other colleagues, this is not only a joyful event, but also a challenge and a hope for the stabilisation of professionals. I think that the beautiful, modernly equipped internal medicine department at the Beroun hospital will appeal to some of them and they will stay here to work. In the final analysis, this is an opportunity to improve the quality of care."

The fact that the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic has granted the Beroun Hospital's internal medicine department an eight-year accreditation for specialisation education could be expressed very simply - it is doing the right things, in the right place, with the right people. And it can teach others to do the same. And at the end of it all, there will always be the one who is most concerned - a satisfied patient.
