On Sunday 13.10. there was a double celebration in the Rehabilitation Hospital. The closing ceremony of the 2019 Sculpture Symposium, which kicked off this unique day, was the culmination of the work of 11 sculptors that visitors to the park have been able to observe at work since July 24. All of the sculptures were successful, making it very difficult to choose the winning ones. The jury had to resort to several double and triple places.
The sculptors Jan Novotný and Martina Niubó Klouzová took the fourth place, and the sculptors David Kraček, who was a guest of the symposium, Kamila Housová Mizerová and Karolína Kračková Neprašová took the third place. The second place was divided between two artists Mr. Miroslav Mlynář and Mrs. Jaromíra Němcová. The jury was impressed by his sculpture "Fallen on his head (totem of the new era)" and the first place went to Mr. Pavel Míka. The other participants of the symposium were awarded Honorable Mention.
We asked this year's winner how he liked the event. "The event was very successful, as was the whole sculpture symposium. I would like to thank the owner and the organizers for giving me the opportunity to participate in this year's event," said the smiling sculptor and restorer Pavel Míka.
However, the awards for this year's sculptors did not end there. The opportunity to choose their favourite was also given to the public through voting. It was a surprise that the opinion of the jury was unanimous about the second place. First place with an unbeatable 202 votes, out of a total of 400 votes, was won by Martina Niubó Klouzová and her sculpture Pandora's Box. The second place went to Jaromíra Němcová with her sculpture Time is Running and the third place went to Miroslav Mlynář with his Minotaur.
The winner of the public vote, Mrs. Martina Niubó Klouzová, mentioned the reason for her victory in her thank-you speech. "The high number of my votes is clearly due to the children's audience. It's good that the younger generation is participating and interested in the arts. I am happy to see such events that encourage these youngsters to support the arts. I think that we should lead them along this path in our own interest," thanked the sculptor.
You can see all the sculptures in the gallery or come and see them in person in our park.
The festive day, which was not missed by most of the employees, flowed freely into the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Beroun hospital. The moderator Olda Burda briefly recalled the history of the hospital, its important milestones and handed over the floor to Mr. Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis, the owner of the hospital. He delighted the colleagues present by mentioning that he had started the steps to build a company kindergarten, which the employees of the Rehabilitation Hospital lack, and thus heard their pleas. He also recalled the ongoing work on the construction of the Mental Rehabilitation Centre. He wished everyone a wonderful afternoon and with that the anniversary celebration of the hospital was officially opened. Employees of Beroun Hospital, as well as their sister facilities, the Hořovice Hospital and Multiscan Pardubice, were entertained by The Party Band, a performance by the Greek Dance Ensemble and dancers from TS Rytmus Úvaly.
For families with children there were many activities prepared, from face painting, a wild electric bull, a huge bouncy castle to a competition trail ending with tempting prizes. Young and old alike were captivated by a puppet show by the Vysmáto Puppet Theatre.
A definite highlight of the whole afternoon was the performance of the band SLZA, which made the audience dance and whose at least one song was known to all the guests. The band ended the concert with several encores and an unplanned autograph session for dozens of fans of all ages.
