The conference began with a presentation by Prof. Pavel Kolář, who introduced the topic of scoliosis from a functional point of view, while Prof. Martin Krbec from the Orthopaedic and Traumatology Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Veterinary Medicine devoted his lecture to the issue of idiopathic scoliosis, especially the process from conservative treatment to surgical treatment. Other experts spoke about the possibilities of corset therapy or kinesiotherapy in the treatment of scoliosis, including the psychological aspects of this disease.
Two employees of the Jan Calta Rehabilitation Centre - prim. MUDr. Ondřej Horáček Ph.D. and psychologist PhDr. Marek Jančok. In his presentation, Dr. Horáček dealt with spinal deformities in neurological diseases and presented some interesting case studies that he has captured in his practice over the last 20 years. "I perceive the conference as a confirmation of the importance our hospital attaches to educational events and professional conferences," said the Beroun chief physician.
PhDr. Jančok focused on the psychological aspects of scoliosis and it turned out that the participants were very interested in this topic. The whole conference was marked by joint work and exchange of experiences not only in the official programme but also in private discussions of all participants. Satisfaction with the course of the sixth Beroun Rehabilitation Day was also expressed by the owner of the Beroun hospital Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis.
Appreciation for the whole event belongs not only to the management of RN Beroun, which made this unique meeting possible and financially ensured it for the most part, but also to the partners of the conference and especially to the organizers of the whole event under the leadership of the Chief Medical Officer Ondřej Horáček.
