Outpatient group psychotherapy

21. 5. 2018

Group psychotherapy is a regular meeting of people who do not know each other initially. Group psychotherapy exploits the dynamics of relationships and interactions between members. This creates a unique, safe and confidential space where one can explore one's own functioning with other people. The psychotherapy group will meet regularly every Thursday afternoon from June in the Beroun hospital, under the expert guidance of clinical psychologist and psychotherapist Marek Jančok, PhD.

That mental health care should not be underestimated is probably unnecessary to mention today. Nor is it necessary to mention that the causes of mental illness and mental distress can be very different, as can the resulting health consequences. Seeking early care from a clinical psychologist is therefore always appropriate. In addition to individual care, group psychotherapy has now been introduced at the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital. From June, the psychotherapy group will meet regularly every Thursday from 4 to 5.30 p.m. on the hospital premises, in building "G", under the expert guidance of clinical psychologist and psychotherapist Marek Jančok, PhD.

The price of one group session is 200 CZK. It goes without saying that participation in group psychotherapy is preceded by an individual interview with a clinical psychologist, with whom you will discuss your current problems and their suitability for group psychotherapy. Appointments can be made by telephone, directly at the Clinical Psychology Clinic from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (tel. 311 745 228). If you do not get through, you will be contacted back by telephone.

What is group psychotherapy?

Group psychotherapy is a regular meeting of people who do not initially know each other. It is not a requirement that they have the same topics they wish to address. In group psychotherapy, the dynamics of the relationships and interactions between members are exploited. This creates a unique, safe and confidential space to explore one's own functioning with other people.

Under the guidance of the therapist, there is an opportunity to learn from and be inspired by other group members, as well as to be part of the reflection for others oneself. In this safe environment it is possible to learn to perceive, discover and try different ways of communicating, to change dysfunctional patterns or to develop newly discovered skills that lead to the expression of one's own feelings, needs and opinions. The result - to understand yourself and set up a more content and free functioning in your life.

A psychotherapy group is made up of up to nine members who have a desire to change their entrenched patterns in life, want to learn to manage conflict, work on managing insecurity, low self-esteem, anxiety and fear, manage negative emotions, learn to speak openly in front of more people and thereby gain skills for change.
