Internal ward with intensive care unit

The internal department with an intensive care unit provides preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic care on an outpatient and inpatient basis within the defined scope of the field. In the care of the patients entrusted to it, it cooperates closely with other specialist departments, in particular the Hořovice Hospital, the Cardiocentre in Prague Na Homolka, Motol University Hospital and IKEM. The modern equipped ward has one to three bedded rooms with reclining beds, sanitary facilities, TV and wi-fi connection. It is accredited for training doctors in the field. Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The intensive care unit (ICU) is part of the internal ward, it has 7 fully monitored beds. The ICU provides medical care for seriously ill internal medicine patients who are at risk of failure of basic life functions, or who are failing one or more vital organ functions. It uses modern instrumentation.

Functional diagnostics outpatient clinic

The outpatient clinic provides exercise testing (cycle ergometry), pulmonary function testing (spirometry), 24-hour arterial blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and 24-hour ECG monitoring (ECG Holter).

As part of a good examination, an assessment of the function of individual organs or body reactions is now absolutely essential for diagnosis. All the necessary methods available are used at our workplaces.

  • Ergometry is the determination of "cardiac fitness". The person being examined is gradually subjected to increasing loads - either by "pedalling" on a bicycle-like ergometer or by walking on a "treadmill". The ECG and blood pressure are continuously evaluated. Many cardiac aspects are then described according to precisely defined characteristics - for example, heart muscle undercooling, exercise capacity or pressure response.
  • ECG Holter and Pressure Holter are continuous specialized digital measurement techniques that monitor the person being examined for a full 24 hours. In the former, electrodes are placed on the chest of the person being monitored, sensing the ECG signal, while in the latter, a cuff is placed on the person's arm to sense blood pressure parameters. According to the findings, we then determine or adjust the current treatment, such as prescribed medication. Alternatively, we determine the need for implantation of a pacemaker, etc.
  • Spirometry is basically a simple functional method, describing the condition of the lungs and bronchi. The person being examined exhales into a spirometry machine on demand, which measures a range of variables. In particular, the volume of air inhaled and the rate of exhalation. The type and extent of lung and bronchial involvement is then assessed and, if necessary, the necessary treatment is determined.
