According to Vlasta Dolejšová, a spokesperson for the hospital in Beroun, this is part of a million-dollar investment in the overall renovation of the local park, which has been neglected for many years by the previous hospital operators and has fallen into disrepair. "We would like to finish the landscaping this year and next year we will start planting trees and building walkways and training obstacles," Vlasta Dolejšová said.
Jiří Besser, the founder of the foundation, sees helping the Beroun hospital as a logical continuation of his earlier cooperation with the facility from the time when he was still mayor of Beroun. "Given that the main capacity of the beds in the coming years should be the department of physiotherapy and rehabilitation medicine for patients from all over the region, I consider the project to be very important," says Culture Minister Besser.
The legendary hockey goalkeeper Dominik Hašek is also a member of the board of the Besser Foundation. As a top athlete, he is aware of how difficult it is to return to normal or sporting life after injuries. "A rehabilitation area in nature with a number of interesting elements and obstacles simulating in a calm environment many of the things that patients will encounter after returning to normal life is nowhere else in the Czech Republic in a comparable medical facility," explains the Czech Olympian the reason for supporting the Beroun rehabilitation trail.
