Even small children managed the resuscitation

Safety Day attracted more than a thousand children. Most of the children were from primary schools and kindergartens in Beroun, but children from the surrounding area also came.

Whoever drove through Beroun on Friday morning could not help but notice the stream of children heading to the Na hrázi camp. This is where the traditional Safety Day, organized by the town of Beroun together with the Integrated Rescue System, was held. And the visitors certainly had something to look forward to. The rich programme included activities in individual stands, demonstrations of interventions by the municipal police, police dog handlers, firefighters and the intervention of the Elbe Fire Department. The biggest attraction was the arrival and departure of the police helicopter. Thanks to BESIP, the older children were able to experience what a frontal impact in a car at 30km/h is like and also what happens in a car when it rolls over on its roof.

The Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun and the Hořovice Hospital presented a new ambulance and showed the children how to provide first aid correctly. If the little visitors succeeded they received a small gift."I would be afraid to provide first aid myself. But I tried it and I have to say that it takes a lot of strength and stamina," answered 10-year-old Petr N. from the Beroun primary school. Not only Petr, but also much younger children were able to do first aid. Anička (5 years old) from Králův Dvůr demonstrated not only a great resuscitation, which she managed to do with an A-star, but also how an injured person should be approached.

We can only hope that the children will never need what they learned at our stand. And if they do, they already know how to do it.
