We also supported this activity in our hospital, where we invited volunteers from the Zvonek club in Kralodvor, an association of citizens suffering from cancer, which has been selling calendula for many years. Dozens of people, both visitors to the hospital and our employees, bought the yellow flower from them.
This year's sale is dedicated to breast cancer prevention and screening programs. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women and more than seven thousand patients are diagnosed with the disease every year in the Czech Republic. Early detection is key in this case, where subsequent treatment has a success rate of up to 92 percent. Mammography screening is recommended especially for women aged 45 and over, and they should ideally go for it every two years.
The League Against Cancer has maintained this tradition since 1996. Their main aim is to reduce the overall mortality rate from the disease and also to improve the situation in terms of prevention and treatment. Everyone can make a contribution and together support those who are currently battling cancer.
