Our employees united for charity and helped children in need

Thursday, November 23rd, was in the spirit of Christmas shopping in our hospital. On this day, the second annual Christmas Fair took place, an event that not only brought joy and festive atmosphere, but also helped a good cause.

Since the end of October, employees have had the opportunity to bring various items to work that they no longer find a use for at home, but which are still in perfect condition, to go to this year's Christmas Fair. There were tables full of original and handmade items on display - from soaps and statuettes to beautiful jewellery, toys, paintings, decorations and even ingredients for baking Christmas candy.

The event started at the stroke of 12 noon and by the time the first visitors arrived, Christmas-themed music filled the meeting room. The prices of the donated items ranged from 5 to 200 crowns and were thus very welcoming. Everyone could find something for themselves or their loved ones without putting any strain on the family budget.

"I was very impressed by the selection at the fair and also by its intention. For example, I bought a super robot for mixing. I myself have some nice things at home that we don't use much anymore but could make someone else happy. So next year I will be very happy to share them," shared Silvie Balíková, head of therapists at the Centre for Mental Rehabilitation.

The fair was not only about buying products. It was also about heart and kindness. After it was over, one of the shoppers' suggestions was drawn for where the money raised should go. The paper drawn bore the text "for children" with the fact that this year's proceeds amounted to CZK 5,134. To this amount the hospital director Mgr. Nataša Petsini contributed more money to "round up" the donation to 10 000 CZK.

The funds will go to support Pro zdraví 21 z. ú. Specifically, they will help the Mental Health Centre for Children and Adolescents, which provides comprehensive health, social and educational services in the psychological and psychiatric field. Its main mission is to provide timely care that is provided for the time necessary.

The Christmas Fair was once again full of emotions, surprises, joy and Christmas spirit. Everyone who participated was so proud to have contributed to creating something beautiful that is meaningful not only to us, but especially to those who need help. The event was also a great opportunity for colleagues from different departments to meet, chat and soak up the first festive cheer.
