7. 3. 2017

After a long illness, MUDr. Jan Calta, long-time director of the Multiscan a.s. Oncology Centre in Pardubice and professional director of Jessenia a.s. and NH Hospital a.s., which operate the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun and the Hořovice Hospital, died on Monday, 6 March 2017.

Jan Calta was born in 1951 into an artistic family in Prague. His father was a stage designer and his mother an actress. In 1978 he graduated from the 2nd Faculty of Medicine, specializing in rehabilitation and physical medicine. Rehabilitation medicine became, besides photography, a great passion of his life. He was distinguished by the fact that he not only had a rare feeling and sense for new directions in the field of rehabilitation, but also had the necessary courage and indomitable will to fight and push them through.

Since 2000 he started to cooperate with Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis, with whom he created a new strategy for the further development of the Multiscan Medical Group and subsequently for the Beroun Hospital. The local rehabilitation centre, the largest and most modern facility of its kind in the Czech Republic, is his brainchild. Dr. Calta's innovative practices, insight and determination to promote new visions, which he undoubtedly possessed, are documented by the several years of successful operation of this rehabilitation hospital.
Dr. Calta also contributed significantly to the modernization of the Beroun and Hořovice hospitals, which have become modern, fully equipped facilities promoting the latest medical procedures. He also personally contributed to the decoration of the premises with a collection of his own original photographs. Photography has accompanied him from an early age. Even as a young boy he had the opportunity to watch the important Czech photographer Josef Sudek, who was a close friend of his parents, at work. Dr. Calta specialized mainly in panoramic photographs and his photographs were publicly exhibited several times. His last exhibition "Frames and other still lifes" is a permanent exhibition in the Beroun hospital.

Dr. Calta will remain in the memories of his colleagues, friends and patients as a man who always had a human and personal approach to everyone in his surroundings. Thanks to his hard work, strong will, willingness to help, as well as his fair and honest approach, Dr. Calta always achieved the realization of his visions and life plans.

The management and the work teams of Multiscan s.r.o., JESSENIA a.s. and NH Hospital a.s. express their deepest condolences to his wife and our colleague Jana, as well as to Dr. Calta's children.
