Another well-known national athlete, who was "put together" in the Rehabilitation Centre in Beroun, is Jana Veselá, who was named the best basketball player in the Czech Republic in 2012.She has also had a number of excellent sporting successes - she was European Vice-Champion in 2003, European Champion two years later, and took home a silver medal from the World Championships in 2010. She played three times with our women's team at the Olympics, in the USA, where she played in the professional WNBA league with the Seattle Storm, she was a valid support in winning the overall victory in this league, in the Euroleague, when she played for Ros Caseras in Valencia, she won another championship with her teammates. And so one could go on. Her amazing sporting career was interrupted by the first serious injury of her sporting career at last year's European Championships, when she tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee in the first minutes of the opening game. How did she get to Beroun in the first place? Before the actual ligament surgery, after an arthroscopy to clean and prepare the knee for surgery, she was recommended a so-called motodlaha, which is used to move and mobilise the knee. "Since my current club, USK Prague, uses the services of the Beroun hospital, I commuted there for about a month and a half and then, after the operation, which took place at the Arthroscopy Centre in Beroun , I was hospitalized at the Rehabilitation Centre for twenty days.I was extremely satisfied with the care I received, everyone there is nice and helpful, I would recommend your rehabilitation centre to anyone" she told us when asked how she liked it in Beroun. "I was under the care of Dr. Helena Božková , who was excellent to work with and helped me in every way. The first week after the operation, Lucie Lefner helped me to move and strengthen my knee. I would like to thank not only the two of them, but everyone I came into contact with at the Rehabilitation Centre in Beroun."Rehabilitation and return to top sport after ACL surgery takes a long time, it is very individual, but at least six to eight months. Jana Veselá is slowly starting to run, but she is not ready to play basketball yet. She confirmed to us that for athletes the period without sport, the drill of training, matches and competitions is mainly a mental burden and it is not easy. "I was used to a certain game mode and now I can only watch and cheer for my teammates," Jana revealed her feelings, adding that this is life and it is important to hold on and look forward to the moment when she can run out on the court again in full force. So let's hope she can make it as soon as possible!
