Christmas is a time of joy and well-being, which started again with an unusual event for the employees of AKESO Holding, namely a joint trip to the Christmas market in Nuremberg. The festive atmosphere there was beautifully portrayed by the wintry weather.

On Saturday, 2 December, five buses took a trip to Germany, transporting over a hundred employees together with their families and friends - 225 people in total. The buses started at 6.30 a.m. from the AKESO Polyclinic (formerly DCNH) in Prague's Nové Butovice. Half an hour later, the participants boarded the train in front of the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun and at half past seven the participants left from the Hořovice Hospital straight for Germany.

"Even though the journey was very difficult, because it snowed heavily since Friday and we had to face traffic restrictions on the route, the buses were full of great mood and looking forward to the festive Nuremberg," said Lucie Lišková, PR manager of the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun, who organized the trip.

The Nuremberg Christmas markets have a long tradition and are one of the best experiences to be had in Europe during the winter holidays. Every year it offers a varied selection of Christmas decorations and various handmade gifts. And of course, there are also goodies such as delicious Bavarian sausages, mulled wine and the local, very famous gingerbread "lebkuchen".

This year's magical Christmas atmosphere was further enhanced by the predicted heavy drizzle, which enveloped the entire town, including its major landmarks, the Royal Castle and the Gothic Church of St. Vitus, in a white coat. The buses arrived in the heart of Nuremberg after 12 o'clock and everyone immediately went into the pulsating Christmas cheer. Some were happy to join the individual guides, who were already eager to present interesting historical and contemporary facts about the city.

"We walked through the entire historical part of the city, and our guide Vít Malkus impressed us with his knowledge, which he presented in an engaging way. The drivers were also great and took very good care of us. Everything was perfectly prepared and the whole trip was a very nice experience. I would like to thank everyone who participated in its organization and also the management of our hospital for making this possible," said Marta Doležalová, radiology technician at the Beroun hospital.

The arrival of the evening announced the participants to gather again at the buses and get ready for the journey home. The return was full of impressions, memories and pleasant tiredness. "We enjoyed the trip incredibly much. It was a beautiful and unforgettable experience and I thank you very much for it," said Marcela Hlinovská, a nurse from the inpatient rehabilitation ward of the Beroun hospital.

The trip to Nuremberg was once again an excellent opportunity for employees to spend the pre-Advent Saturday together and also to strengthen team spirit not only across departments but also across the individual health care facilities of AKESO Holding. "As in previous years, it is once again pleasing to see how many colleagues decided to join the trip and spend their time outside the often demanding hospital environment. It makes me even more happy to see how wonderful the atmosphere of this year's trip was again," Lucie Lišková further commented.

The co-organization of the trip was in the hands of the HR department of the Hořovice Hospital and the Diagnostic Centre of the Hořovice Hospital (now AKESO POLIKLINIKA). HR specialist Mgr. Klára Prošková, who did not go to Nuremberg herself, but was in close contact with all participants.

In previous years, one year the trip was to Regensburg and the other to Dresden. Where will it be next year? "There have been suggestions from colleagues to go to Poland, which sounds very interesting," Lucie Lišková hinted at possible plans for next year.
