Dragon Boats for the second time

Beroun hospital had the most participants in the dragon boat race

Representatives of the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun took part in the traditional dragon boat race on the Berounka River in Beroun on 3 September, just like last year.

This year there were three crews. Two others were from the partner hospital Hořovice. For the uninitiated - the crew of the dragon boat, which is basically a boat in the shape of an open canoe, the bow of which is decorated with a dragon's head and the stern with a dragon's tail, a symbol of the water god dragon, is made up of 20 rowers plus a helmsman and a drummer, setting the pace. Dragon boat racing is increasingly becoming an attractive sporting and social activity, as best evidenced by the growing participation in these races. A record 36 crews took part in the 11th edition of the Beroun Dragon this year, and many spectators also came, so the Camp Na Hrázi, where the races were held, was really busy.

With a real desire to get together as teams and show that they can be a good team even outside their workplaces, mixed crews of doctors and other staff of the Rehabilitation Centre and the Arthroscopy Centre of the Beroun Hospital got into the dragon boats. They fought with all their might, even though they knew that they could not hope for the top places against the teams they had assembled. It did not dampen their spirits. The biggest reward for everyone was to spend a pleasant day by the Berounka River, to have a chance to talk in a completely informal environment, to have some fun and to relax from the demanding and highly responsible work. And that is really not enough!
