The origin of this holiday is linked to the date of birth of Florence Nightingale (12.5.1820), who essentially laid the first foundations for the nursing model we still use today. She was also responsible for the first nursing education. The main motto of her life's work was hygiene, kindness and empathy towards the sick. The profession of nurses and other health professionals is a mission and we are very happy that this holiday exists. Words of thanks can be formally expressed for the dedication and commitment in the difficult situations that our nursing staff face on a daily basis.
We are very grateful for all the letters and social media messages we regularly receive that reassure us of the kindness and empathy of our nursing staff. You can read the letters and messages sent here.
