Since 1965, today has been celebrated around the world as International Nurses' Day. This year's Nurses' Day is all the more significant because it is taking place in a year designated by the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) as the "Year of Nurses and Midwives". This is in honour of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who first laid the foundations of modern nursing care.
The celebration of this holiday was held this year at the Rehabilitation Hospital in Beroun in a slightly different spirit than in previous years. The management of the hospital personally visited all the serving nurses. Director Natasha Petsini presented each of them with a flower as a small token of appreciation for today's holiday and thanked them for their hard, patient and dedicated work throughout the year. At the same time she promised that as soon as the epidemiological situation in the Czech Republic allows it, a meeting like the nurses are used to will be prepared.
