The Beroun and Hořovice hospitals also contributed to the Barriers Account before Christmas this year. It was a spontaneous idea that came about less than a month ago, after we, while creating a report for the magazine Můžeš, published by the Association of Friends of Konta Bariéry, in the Rehabilitation Centre of the Beroun Hospital, started thinking about the possibility of establishing a permanent cooperation with Konta Bariéry. Especially before the approaching Christmas holidays, those who are well off and, admittedly, sometimes no longer think about those who have it harder in life, should come up with a concrete action.
The Barriers Account, among others, has had a very nice project for a couple of years called "Help with Humour". Its symbol is a red clown nose. So why not buy these noses. It was a success and the 25,000 CZK proceeds will help a good cause. Every participant at this year's Christmas party, which took place on 11 December at the Social House in Hořovice, received a nose - 500 were given away - and an interesting group photo was taken during the evening. It is not only during the events of Konta Bariéry, such as the Czech Television show "Maybe Charity Will Come", that this red nose is worn by famous actors, singers, athletes and other popular people; thousands of other, unknown donors help a good cause by purchasing it. But so many people working in the health care sector, like those at the party in Hořovice, have probably never had it on their noses at the same time.
The Barriers Account is the main project of Charter 77, founded by Prof. Janouch in Sweden. Then in 1990, the Charter 77 Foundation moved to our country and brought the charity to the then Czechoslovakia. And it became a real pioneer in this field. Remember Konto Míša? It was an unprecedented success at that time, how many companies, but also individuals contributed. Konto Bariéry is not only still alive but also growing stronger and has already raised hundreds of millions of crowns. Every year, thanks to tens of thousands of contributors, it helps many people in need, especially those who, especially in the past, were often neglected by the state - disabled citizens.
The "Help with Humour" campaign, which is gaining more and more supporters in many European countries, including the Czech Republic, originated almost 30 years ago in Great Britain, where Red Nose Days were first held in 1988. It included and still includes live broadcasts, a series of events involving very well-known personalities. To write a sketch or a song just for this charity, which doesn't just end on one day though, is a really prestigious thing to do. It is the biggest charity event, with uninterrupted continuity. Not just in the UK, but here today. That's very good! And so all our staff were certainly delighted that we got involved too. The owner of Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun and Hospital Hořovice ing. Sotirios Zavalianis reacted to this idea not only positively, but also very quickly, and so at this year's Christmas party we actually started our cooperation with Kontem Bariéry. We will be happy if it is successful and we will be able to experience in the future the good feeling that we can not only think about those who need help, but also do something concrete for them.
