The 12th edition of the Beroun Rehabilitation Day took place on Thursday 24 October in the multifunctional hall of the hospital in Beroun. This year, the national conference was entitled Shoulder Disease - a Multidisciplinary Perspective and was attended by a record number of participants. Traditionally, the conference was organized by the Jan Calta Rehabilitation Centre, which is headed by Milena Kolářová, MD, and together with Ondřej Horáček, MD, moderated the conference.

The fact that the Beroun Rehabilitation Day is becoming more and more popular is evidenced by the record attendance of nearly 300 medical and physiotherapy professionals from all over the Czech Republic. "I am very pleased that this year's participation is the highest of all years. This is the second time we have held this conference in a modern multifunctional hall, which provides all the comforts. This time we focused on the issue of shoulder disorders and invited experts from orthopaedics, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, as well as neurology. All lectures were very interesting, for example the lecture of Mgr. Petr Bitnar Ph.D., who deals with visceral topics. This examines the connection between pain in the shoulder and the condition of other organs in the body," explains MUDr. Milena Kolářová, head of the Rehabilitation Centre at Beroun Hospital.

Other topics covered at the rehabilitation day included practical kinesiology, neurology and sonography of the shoulder, rotator cuff pathology, fractures and endoprosthetics of the shoulder joint. In addition, the speakers introduced the audience to the evaluation of the results of therapy for shoulder disorders, shoulder arthroscopy or the use of modern technology in shoulder disorders.

The topic of shoulder sonography was developed in his lecture by doc. MUDr. Kamal Mezian Ph.D., who works at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and the General University Hospital. Nowadays, there is a lot of talk among doctors about this method, and patients are starting to demand it. It is a gentle and non-invasive examination, which can also be used for more precise application of therapeutic sprays," says the doctor, adding: "I would also like to thank the organisers very much for the invitation and express my great satisfaction with the course of the conference."

The physiotherapist Bc. Pavel Kosty, who specializes in occupational ergonomics. "I am delighted both with the choice of topics, which grasp shoulder issues from almost all perspectives, and with the organisation of the whole event. I can say that I have never seen such a well-managed event in all aspects. I will be happy to return again next year and look forward to more interesting lectures."
