The hospital handed over a cheque for Charity Beroun

On Thursday 25th April, the Beroun Culture House hosted a performance by Charity Beroun in support of the Good Will collection. Right at the beginning the guests were welcomed by the director of Charity Beroun Mr. Ing. Petr Horák and a long-time patron and supporter of the charity, Tomáš Zdechovský, Czech Member of the European Parliament for the KDU-ČSL. A very pleasant event preceded the expected dance performance of the flamenco ensemble Virgine Delgado called AIRE (WIND). The presentation of a cheque for 100.000,-Kč from the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun and the Hospital Hořovice directly into the hands of the two representatives. Then nothing stood in the way of welcoming the members of the ensemble on stage. The final applause left no one in doubt that the performance was very much enjoyed.

We interviewed the director of the foundation Mr. Ing. Petr Horák how he liked the performance and what are the future plans of Charity Beroun.

So this year's first event in support of the DOBRÁ VŮLE fundraising has been very successful, what do you think?

The event was a real success. I think it brought a surge of positive energy to the visitors, and that's what we wanted.

How long does it take to prepare such a performance?

It doesn't seem like it, but it's a six-month job for us. You have to work so far in advance to book, arrange and prepare everything in time. Plus, we're not an art agency. Colleagues do everything as an extra job on top of their duties at the Charity.

What are the next plans and projects of Charity Beroun?

Apart from the twelve social services we provide in the Beroun region, we try very hard to help families caring for their loved ones suffering from Alzheimer's disease and to spread awareness about this modern epidemic. We will certainly continue to do so. We would also like to build a sheltered workshop for people with reduced working capacity in our region. These are our plans.

What's your biggest concern at the moment?

Without a doubt, it is the amount of administration and the ever-increasing number of different regulations, restrictions and changes. Plus frequent changes in funding for services. That's why the money from fundraising and donors is a huge help to us.

How do you plan to use the donation that was given during the dance performance in Beroun?

We will use this money wherever we cannot cover the necessary expenses for the care of the needy with public funds. In Charity we try to provide help even when it is more financially challenging for us, we often go to people where others would not go.

Do you feel that people are getting more involved in the Charity than in previous years? I mean not only financially, but also with personal help.

Definitely yes, and I can say that it is a tremendous support for our work. This year, for example, we raised 215,000 crowns from the Tříkrál collection. This is almost four times more than in 2016. Even with personal help, the situation is already improving. This spring, for example, five brigades from Microsoft will come to us to help us set up lavender fields to help us activate our clients.

We wish you many generous donors and dedicated helpers.
