The Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital and the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague have been cooperating closely for many years, especially in the field of physiotherapy student practice. The organisation of practical state examinations in the premises of the hospital was thus offered as the next logical step to deepen this cooperation.
"Beroun Hospital is one of the workplaces where we regularly send students. This cooperation works perfectly and we appreciate it very much. We are therefore all the more pleased that we were able to hold this year's exams here," said Mgr. Milada Luisa Šedivcová, assistant professor at the Department of Health and Population Protection at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the CTU in Prague, who also sat on the examination committee.
The professional examination was divided into two examination days. One of the centre's consulting rooms was used as a preparation room and the examination itself was then held in a meeting room. Students demonstrated their knowledge on a wide range of diagnoses. These included total hip or knee replacement conditions. There were also patients after stroke and vertebrogenic algic syndrome (localised pain in different areas of the spine with limitation of mobility) was also well represented.
Only one student out of the 22 tested failed to succeed. The whole course was thus evaluated as very successful by the examination committee, consisting of teachers and clinical staff. The Rehabilitation Centre was represented on the committee by methodologists Mgr. Ondřej Houška, Mgr. Ladislava Kvapilová and physiotherapist Mgr. " The commission assessed primarily the ability of the physiotherapist to perform a kinesiological analysis on the patient. They then evaluated it and had to defend the optimal therapeutic procedure. Overall, they all demonstrated very good theoretical and practical knowledge," the doctor noted.
"I would like to thank the management of the hospital for the opportunity to organize the examinations at your hospital, the members of the committee for their impeccable cooperation and I would also like to thank all my other colleagues for their help with the organization, especially the head of physiotherapists, Lucia Lefner, who arranged everything very well," added Milada Luisa Šedivcová.
