Ultrasound in practice: seminar with a leading expert brought valuable experience to doctors

7. 8. 2025

In the past few days, a professional seminar focused on the practical use of diagnostic and interventional ultrasound in the musculoskeletal system took place at the Rehabilitation Centre of the Beroun Hospital. The seminar was led by doc. MUDr. Kamal Mezian, Ph.D., one of the most important experts in musculoskeletal ultrasonography in the Czech Republic.

The program was designed primarily for physicians, as it focused on invasive ultrasound-guided splints specifically for the shoulder joint and carpal tunnel area. In addition to the theoretical introduction, the seminar included a practical demonstration of sonographic examination and targeted drug applications under ultrasound control.

"The mutual cooperation with Associate Professor Mezian has been working very well for a long time. We met at a recent congress in Luhačovice and I was very interested in his lecture, so my colleague Dr Horáček and I approached him to see if he could pass on his findings to our doctors. I am very glad that he accepted our invitation," said the head of the Rehabilitation Centre , MUDr. Milena Kolářová.

The Rehabilitation Centre of the hospital in Beroun is constantly developing the professional skills of the team - it regularly organises training courses for both doctors and physiotherapists. Thanks to these training activities, there are doctors in the field of ultrasound examination and interventional procedures, and this significantly expands the possibilities of modern rehabilitation care.

The seminar was not only inspiring but also very practical. Doctors were able to test new knowledge directly at work with patients and share their experiences. "I believe that such meetings are crucial for ensuring quality and safe care and that we will continue to build on our successful cooperation with leading experts," said Chief Medical Officer Kolářová.
