Sotirios Zavalianis, the founder and owner of AKESO holding a.s., which owns the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun, yesterday became the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 of the Central Bohemia Region.
"It is difficult to express my feelings. I am very grateful for the award. I liked life in Czechoslovakia very much during my studies, so I came back. I think that my presence in the Czech Republic is beneficial, even though I am an economic immigrant.
Our focus is always on the human being. We try to influence patients so that they feel comfortable in our facilities. We defy people who put us in the average category. And that gives us tremendous strength.
If I didn't have a healthy critical attitude, I couldn't have created what I have done to date," says Sotirios Zavalianis.
Prague and the Central Bohemian Region have traditionally been among the most successful regions, with a total of five national winners in the 19-year history of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year competition, three of them doing business in the Central Bohemian Region.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that the tradition will continue at the announcement of the national winners on 5 March 2019 at Žofín.
