Physiotherapy plays an indispensable role in the care of patients who are struggling with the consequences of injuries or illnesses and need to restore movement, self-sufficiency and quality of life. However, an active approach to exercise is important for all of us - it helps prevent musculoskeletal pain, reduces the risk of cardiovascular and lung disease, supports the prevention of work-related injuries and contributes to overall vitality.
"Our profession is demanding, but it also brings great joy, especially when we can really help a patient. In our hospital, we have a range of modern technologies at our disposal, as well as a well-coordinated professional team, which is continuously being trained. That is why I am glad that we can celebrate World Physiotherapy Day together and we are also happy to expand our ranks with new colleagues," said Ing. Bc. Marie Plecháčová, Head of Physiotherapy at Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun.
During the relaxed afternoon, physiotherapists could make interesting gifts for themselves or their loved ones, take part in a competition for a mobile phone or use card interpretation to reveal their future.
"I came on the recommendation of my colleagues and I am very happy because it is a great event that encourages meetings between colleagues outside of work. I can say that we are a great bunch at work and we like to meet in our free time and this is one of the wonderful opportunities," says Dominik Flemmer, who has been working at the Beroun hospital for two years as a physiotherapist assistant.
The celebration of World Physiotherapy Day is not only a thank you to our colleagues for their daily work, but also a challenge to the public. We wish that not only physiotherapists, but all of us, would commemorate this day, perhaps by going for a walk, jogging or other forms of active exercise.
