27. 4. 2026

Do you want to play sport safely, improve your fitness or do you suffer from a chronic disease and need expert advice for a particular physical activity? Our new outpatient physical medicine clinic at the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun provides top-quality diagnostic, preventive and assessment care for children and adults.

In our outpatient clinic we do not only focus on top athletes, but we are also one of the
one of the main pillars of the cardio-rehabilitation program and movement therapy. We help patients with diseases of civilization such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure or heart and lung disease safely incorporate movement into their lives.

Why see a physical therapist?

"Some serious heart diseases (such as cardiomyopathy) may only become apparent with physical activity. Examination allows these high-risk conditions to be detected early, effectively preventing tragic events such as sudden death in sport. Proper diagnosis and adjustment of physical activity in chronic diseases allows the patient to continue playing sport without worsening his or her health condition," explains Iva Jandurová, M.D., a physiotherapist at the physical education outpatient clinic .

Wide range of services

The outpatient clinic offers complete sports examinations and diagnosis of the causes of problems during exercise, such as shortness of breath, chest pain, heart palpitations or a decline in performance. We also provide expert prescription of tailored physical activity for patients with diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular and other chronic conditions. We also provide nutrition and supplementation consultations and offer assessment services, such as fitness assessments for sports-related schools.

Unique interdisciplinary collaboration

Thanks to our rehabilitation hospital facilities, we work closely with the cardiology, rehabilitation, pneumology and diabetes outpatient clinics and the Mental Rehabilitation Centre ."For the patient, this means comprehensive care in one place without the need for complicated transfers between specialists," says MUDr. Jandurová.

How is the examination carried out?

Ergometry is an essential part of the examination by a sports physician . It is a painless examination that monitors the response of the heart and the whole body to physical stress. The initial examination by the physician is followed by the measurement of anthropometric parameters and recording of resting ECG. Then comes the exercise part, during which the patient pedals on a bicycle ergometer with a graduated load for approximately 10 minutes. "Throughout, we monitor the ECG curve, blood pressure and blood oxygen saturation. We have the result within minutes," the physician adds."

How to make an appointment?

You can make an appointment by calling 311 745 000. For athletic children under the age of 18
a medical record from a general practitioner for children and adolescents is required for the initial examination. We examine children from approximately 135 cm in height. For patients with chronic diseases, we require reports from treating specialists, including an echocardiographic examination.
