The long-term and priority goal of the owner Jessenia , a.s. Hospital Beroun ing. Sotirios Zavalianis has not only become the revitalization and transformation of its appearance and equipment, but above all the constant improvement of the quality of work of all its employees. Those who know this hospital have surely already seen this. This process is actually never ending and is still continuing. One of the proofs of this is the fact that the Department of Clinical Biochemistry and Haematology of the Beroun Hospital (OKBH) has now taken a decisive step towards accreditation according to the international standard ISO 15 189 and the National Accreditation Standards for Clinical Laboratories. It has fulfilled the conditions of Audit I, which is necessary for accreditation according to the National Authorization Centre for Clinical Laboratories at the Czech Medical Society J. E. Purkyně. "Accreditation is necessary both in relation to health insurance companies and for the entire system. It guarantees a standard quality of laboratory work, comparable to the rest of the healthcare system, not only in our country but also in other countries, " says the head of the laboratory, doc. It gives patients a sense of security and confidence, not only because the results obtained are free of errors. Let us recall that the term accreditation, as it is used for various fields of human activity, means official recognition, verification of competence to perform a certain activity at a guaranteed quality level. The whole process of obtaining accreditation is very demanding and involves fulfilling a number of requirements set by the ISO 15 189 standard. It is therefore certainly good news that the Department of Clinical Biochemistry and Haematology in the Beroun Hospital has already been included among those that are audited and registered in the same way.
