The quality and level of its work is evidenced, among other things, by the award it recently received - the ECE certificate, which stands for External Quality Assessment. The purpose of the ECE is to standardise procedures and to demonstrate that the participant is able to competently assess and evaluate the sterilisation process and, in the event of any deviations being detected, to make decisions so that the unreliable operation of the device does not have the potential to endanger patients, staff or the environment. A thorough inspection with several types of tests simultaneously will check the condition of the sterilisers and detect any deficiencies. However, it also focuses on pre-sterilisation preparation, which is a prerequisite for achieving the desired goal of a sterile medical device. The washing machines and the ultrasonic cleaner, which are an integral and indispensable part of the pre-sterilisation preparation, were also inspected and met the requirements. The operation of the central sterilisation department is, of course, governed by the operating rules, materials and instruments are processed on the basis of approved standard procedures, and the quality of the work of the trained and dedicated staff here is continuously monitored by means of chemical, biological and special tests. The certificate is an official confirmation that everything works as it should.
