The publication "Communication with English-speaking clients for nurses" was presented for the first time during the Nursing Day, which is traditionally held in May by RN Beroun. The handbook represents a kind of culmination of a project to improve the quality of nursing teaching in English, which was implemented with the financial support of the Erasmus+ programme and ran from June 2015 to May 2017.
The author of the manual is Karolina Bostlová, a teacher of English language at SZŠ Beroun. "However, lecturers at the English in Margate language school and other teachers at the Beroun medical school also contributed to its creation. Last but not least, many thanks go to the employees of the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun and the Hořovice Hospital, who provided valuable information directly from practice for its creation", says Marie Krňáková, a teacher of vocational subjects at the Beroun School of Education and Training, who also contributed to the creation of the manual.
In the handbook you will find basic communication terms and grammar with an emphasis on the most used terms from practice and you can gradually go through the entire nursing process from the patient's admission, through all stages of the nursing process, to his/her discharge to home care.
The handbook will also be available as a free audio download from October 2017 on the school's website http://www.szsberoun.cz/ by clicking on the Erasmus+ logo or on the website www.epluszsberoun.cz. On this website, it is also possible to download the handbook in pdf format, learn more about the whole project or contact the authors directly if you have any questions, comments or suggestions.
