Participation of an expert from the Beroun hospital at two important conferences

Ondřej Horáček Ph.D., the head of the Rehabilitation Centre of the Beroun Hospital, actively participated twice this year in national professional conferences where leading experts in the field of rehabilitation give lectures. Janda's Myoskeletal Day", an important national conference organized by the Society for Myoskeletal Medicine of the J. E. Purkyně Society, commemorating every year the legacy of the co-founder of modern Czech rehabilitation, Prof. MUDr. Vladimír Janda. In his presentation he dealt with the role of degenerative changes of the spine in the development of lumbar spine pain and presented his own experience with the diagnosis and therapy of chronic pain caused by such changes.

On June 3, MUDr. Horáček lectured at the Central Military Hospital in Prague at the "28th Military Physiatric Day", organized by the chief expert of the Military Health Agency of the Czech Republic for the field of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine. It is the most important conference in the field of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine within the Military Healthcare of the Czech Republic. Ondřej Horáček, MD, spoke on the topic "The use of mirror therapy in patients after stroke". Mirror therapy (see photo) is a very promising treatment method developed by the American neurologist of Indian origin V. S. Ramachandran in 1995. Occupational therapists at the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital have been performing this worldwide method of treatment, based on "visual feedback and optical illusion", for the fourth year and have had very good experience with it. It has proven itself especially in the therapy of patients after strokes and for the treatment of phantom pain after limb amputations.
