"This is a traditional congress, which is regularly attended by the society's committee. This year's edition was also attended by a large number of foreign participants and very interesting and beneficial topics were presented," said the head of the Rehabilitation Centre , MUDr. Milena Kolářová. "The first speakers were invited experts, including our physiotherapist Bc. Janis Lukáš, whose contribution drew a very positive response."
Janis Lukáš from the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun presented a presentation on "Physiotherapy in Parkinson's disease: How we do it in Beroun". In his presentation he emphasized the collaborative approach of the multidisciplinary team. We focus on five main domains when working with Parkinsonian patients: stability, gait, physical fitness, manual dexterity and fall prevention. Each of these domains requires a specific assessment, we are guided by the questionnaires we present to patients, and we always focus on the specific goal we want to achieve with the patient. We train individually and in groups, with an emphasis on prevention and neuroprotection, using circuit training or even elements of crossfit, which is not yet commonly done in other departments. We also have younger patients who accept this approach well," said Lukáš.
As a team support, the congress was also attended by the head of the Beroun rehabilitation centre MUDr. Milena Kolářová, MUDr. Ondřej Horáček and physiotherapist Mgr. Ján Dzvoník.
