At the end of February, Beroun's deputy mayor Dušan Tomčo met with the owner of Akeso Holding Sotirios Zavalianis, whose portfolio includes the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dušan Tomčo congratulated the owner of the hospital on his great success, which is the award of the Entrepreneur of the Year of the Central Bohemian Region. First of all, Sotirios Zavalianis informed the Deputy Mayor about the construction of the Mental Health Centre.
He also spoke about the increase in heavy traffic in the adjacent area of Závodí. "Unfortunately, not all the soil has been recommended by experts for reuse in our area, as it cannot be compacted properly, we have to take it away. However, we are trying to deposit maximum soil directly at the site and reuse it in our area. In order to minimise the traffic burden, which is understandable for a project of this size, we have arranged with Švestka to transport it in large trucks so that the number of journeys is kept to a minimum. About half of the material has already been removed from the site," explained Sotirios Zavalianis.
The roughly billion-dollar investment in the Mental Health Centre, designed primarily for the treatment of contemporary diseases of civilisation, will be unparalleled in the Czech Republic. It also envisages extensive underground garages, a large gymnasium, a theatre hall and other modern facilities designed for treatment. A vineyard will be built on the hillside next to the complex. "We had to sink the building very much into the ground so as not to disturb the overall architectural character of the hospital site and the view of the valley," adds Sotirios Zavalianis.
The deputy mayor then presented the electric bike sharing project, which is expected to be implemented in the first half of this year, and agreed with the owner of the hospital that one of the charging stations will be built here. "I am glad that Beroun has such a top-notch medical facility whose reputation goes well beyond our region. I was also pleased to hear that the owner is planning to build a similar corporate kindergarten on the premises as is already in the Hořovice Hospital. The planned places in the company kindergarten could subsequently help with the placement of other children in the currently full pre-school facilities in Beroun," said Dušan Tomčo at the end of the meeting.
