26.10.2015
The Beroun Rehabilitation Day, organized by the Rehabilitation Centre of the Beroun Hospital in cooperation with the Society of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine of the J. E. Purkyně Society, was held at the Grand Hotel in Beroun for the fourth time. A record number of 260 participants came to Beroun from various parts of the country. There were even more than 300 people interested, but due to the limited capacity of the lecture hall, it was unfortunately not possible to accommodate all those interested.
Doctors, physiotherapists and nurses were welcomed to the conference by the head of the Rehabilitation Centre of the Beroun Hospital, Ondřej Horáček, M.D., Ph.D., the professional guarantor of the conference, who introduced the programme and some organizational matters. And then followed a sequence of very interesting, high-quality and beneficial lectures, dedicated to the issue of pain in rehabilitation, the main topic of this year's conference. The invitation to active participation was accepted by our leading experts from various disciplines, who, among other things, deal with the issue of pain within their expertise. Among the speakers were leading personalities from the ranks of neurologists, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation physicians, algesiologists, psychologists and physiotherapists. A team of authors from the Rehabilitation Centre of Beroun Hospital presented their experience with the use of the so-called "mirror therapy" in a patient suffering from pain after amputation of a limb. All the papers were lively discussed. Not only new knowledge and experience from different departments, but also informal exchange of views on the issues of the field, all this was highly appreciated by the participants.
The Beroun Rehabilitation Centre already has a very good reputation in its field, extending beyond the borders of the region. This is proven by the hundreds of satisfied patients who seek it out, even from distant parts of the country. The fact that it also takes care of education in this field is very pleasing, although it is quite demanding to organize such a large event. The interest of the participants and the words of praise are certainly the best reward.
