On Thursday, 28 November, Chief Medical Officer Kopečný operated on a patient with the number 60,000 in Beroun. Coincidentally, it was an arthroscopic procedure, which he and his team have been performing here since 2008.
"The arthroscopy centre is our flagship, and over these many years we have made incredible progress. Compared to when we started, we now do about three times as many surgeries a year. The environment here is such that the doctors and patients still enjoy it and it makes sense to me," says Chief Kopecny.
A year ago in Beroun, AKESO Holding presented the One-Day Care Centre to the public with the participation of the Minister of Health. Even then, a press conference promised that more operating theatres would be opened here. "We have now opened one operating room for orthopaedic procedures and we will open another, the seventh, at the beginning of next year. This one will be used for surgical, gynaecological, proctological and ENT procedures, and it will be in a one-day care mode," explains Roman Švestka, manager of the One-Day Care Centre.
The principle of overnight care is that modern and minimally invasive procedures are preferred for simpler procedures that do not require overnight hospitalization, but after a short bed rest, patients go to home care. Usually on the day of surgery.
The main advantages of the Overnight Care Centre in the AKESO medical holding include maximum safety thanks to the connection to the ICU, the use of the most modern medical materials and short ordering times, both for outpatient clinics of individual specialties and for surgical procedures. A complete pre-operative examination is a matter of course.
"We place great emphasis on a personal approach to patients and, if possible, on reducing the length of hospitalisation. Laparoscopic and arthroscopic surgeries are very gentle to the operated area, which means less pain, shorter healing time, lower risk of complications and a faster return to normal life," explains Petr Zeithaml, M.D., Chief of Day Surgery.
All patients at the Day Care Centre have access to modern rooms with reclining beds, TV, internet access and air conditioning. Each room also includes a shower and toilet with wheelchair access.
