Modern proctology in a day-case setting: minimally invasive treatment and collaboration with an outpatient specialist

Place:

Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun

Date:

23. 11. 2026

Hello,

We would like to invite you to the first in a series of seminars organised by the One-day care centre, entitled

Modern Proctology in the Day-Case Setting: Minimally Invasive Treatment and Collaboration with Outpatient Specialists

Minimally invasive approaches and day-case care play a significant role in modern proctology. When deciding on treatment, it is essential to take into account the nature and extent of the condition, the patient’s general condition and the expected long-term outcome. The aim of the seminar is to provide general practitioners and gastroenterologists with an overview of treatment options and to help them navigate the indications for specialist examination and interventional treatment.

The seminar will focus on haemorrhoidal disease, anal fissures, perianal fistulas and pilonidal cysts. It will present the principles of selected minimally invasive procedures, including laser techniques, haemorrhoidal dearterialisation, anal sphincter-preserving procedures and endoscopic treatment of pilonidal cysts. Attention will be paid to their indications, limitations and place within the treatment algorithm, including situations where a conventional surgical approach is more appropriate. The specific features of perianal involvement in Crohn’s disease and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration will be discussed separately. The practical section will cover patient selection for day-case care, the necessary pre-operative examinations, informing patients about the course of treatment and recovery, as well as follow-up outpatient care. This will include the recognition of warning signs requiring early surgical assessment. The seminar is therefore primarily intended for general practitioners and gastroenterologists.
